International school on modelling of irradiation damage

Course:  October 1-5, 2007

Scope

This school aims at bringing together an international group of experts - many of them involved in the PERFECT IP - to introduce PhD students, young scientists and also interested senior scientists to most of the existing computer models typically used within a multiscale modelling approach and especially used within the PERFECT IP.

The seminars will be organised in sessions, each dealing with a class of models, starting from the macroscopic scale and finishing with the atomic scale, in order to show clearly how the information from more fundamental levels is needed in order to make coarser-grained models more reliable. For each class of models, a short introduction will be given, outlining the physical problem that the models want to address and solve, as well as the links with the other models, followed by seminars providing the theoretical background and showing examples of specific applications.

Time for exhaustive discussion will be allowed for and two sessions will be devoted to the demonstration of how specific codes actually work, including the platform of tools developed within the PERFECT IP.
